Day 20:  A Real Christian is a Berean: Daily Questions Authority in Light of the Bible

Who were the Bereans?

The Berean Spirit

The Genuine Christian is in God's Word Daily

The clash between God's Word and the word of Man is constant and daily.

But more important than the Constitution or Declaration of Independence, is the fact that the Bible has been banned from public schools.

If you want to be extraordinary, you have to go back to school. You don't have to spend all day in school, but you must study God's Word every day.
     Not just Sunday.
The Samuel Adams Coaching Program is a daily program.
Doing "religion, morality, and knowledge" every day of the week will transform your entire life.
It will take religion out of church and put in in the economy, in politics, in global regeneration.
The Bible is a textbook in every field of human endeavor. It must be used every day, not just on Sundays.
  • Acts 17:11  These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
  • Proverbs 8:30,34  then I was beside him, like a master worker; and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always, {34}  Blessed is the man that heareth Me, watching daily at My gates, waiting at the posts of My doors.
  • Luke 11:3  Give us day by day our daily bread.
Luke 4:4  And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
  • Psalm 119:97 O how I love thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
  • Hebrews 3:13  But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
  • Acts 5:42  And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
  • Acts 2:46  And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

This is what school used to be like:

Deuteronomy 6:6-9  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: {7} And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. {8} And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. {9} And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

It is almost impossible to compensate for the missed opportunity of growing up in a Biblical context. But even as an adult, you can still take the better path ahead.

  • Psalm 5:3  My voice shalt Thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up.
  • Psalm 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
  • Isaiah 50:4  The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning he wakens -- wakens my ear to listen as those who are taught.
  • Acts 19:9  When some stubbornly refused to believe and spoke evil of the Way before the congregation, he left them, taking the disciples with him, and argued daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.
  • Acts 17:17  Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.
  • Luke 19:47  And He taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy Him,
  • Luke 9:23  And He said to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
Accompany your study with prayer.
Not just on Sunday.
  • Psalm 55:17   Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.
  • Psalm 61:8   So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.
  • Psalm 72:15   And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.
  • Psalm 86:3   Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.
  • Psalm 88:9   Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.

Public schools were originally created to teach everyone the Bible. This Bible-based education created what Charles Murray has called "The Founding Virtues" of industriousness, honesty, marriage, and religiosity. Banning the Bible banned these virtues, and America's global lead in virtue and productivity has collapsed.

Do you have a better explanation for America's decline?

It may seem corny to blame vast, complex economic and political problems -- about which credentialed professors and educated pundits offer sophisticated, footnoted disagreements -- on the banning of the Bible, but if you'll give me a chance to sell you on the proposition, I think I can.

What was it that made "common law" nations better than the conquering, bloody, enslaving, perverted Roman Empire? Answer: the Bible. The first Christian kings (Justinian, Alfred, Ethelbert, etc.) Christianized their law codes according to the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount.

When the U.S. Supreme Court in the early 1960's banned voluntary prayer and voluntary Bible reading from public schools, at least one of the Justices was honest enough to admit that the primary purpose of public schools was to teach "religion and morality," according to those who framed the Constitution.

But nobody cares what the Constitution says anymore.

Frankly, I don't either. We're never going to "get back to the Constitution," as some political fundraisers chant, and if we did get back to 1776, what would prevent us from eventually landing right back where we are today?

In fact, we need to realize that the Revolutionary period in American history saw three huge mistakes made by America's Founding Fathers. Overcoming these three huge mistakes will require us to embrace the three most politically incorrect ideas in the Mainstream Media today. This is, to be frank, a huge undertaking. It will require cult deprogramming.

If Samuel Adams were here today, I'm confident he would see the mistakes he made, because they have been amplified in a way that would floor Adams. We are blind to the fact that these three mistakes are sinking America, and destroying the lives of millions of people around the world.

We need to go back to the one-room school house and learn "religion and morality" for the first time. Then we'll be able to see both the problem and the solution more clearly. I've developed a program I'm calling the *Samuel Adams Coaching Program*. I'd like to stand in for Samuel Adams and be your personal "coach" and transform you into

  • An Extraordinary American,

• An Extraordinary Christian,
  • An Extraordinary Human Being.

I'd like you to cut out the "mainstream media" for one hour a day, and substitute the wisdom and virtue that America's Founding Fathers learned in their one-room school house.

If you believe the Bible is the Word of God, you cannot escape the example of Godly men and women: you and I should read the Bible every day. It should be at the forefront of our thinking.

Sadly, you may never be able to compensate for the loss of a Biblical education as a child. Sure, the words spoken during actual classroom time to a child while he was 6 years old could be learned in a few days by an adult. You can take in the words learned by colonial American children, but you miss the benefits of allowing those words to percolate in your heart day and night and impress themselves in your mind by their application in real-life daily experiences over the years.

But God still requires you to be a student of His Word. There's no reason why you shouldn't begin right now to un-do what the federal government has done to you. Samuel Adams wrote to his cousin John:

Let divines and philosophers, statesmen and patriots, unite their endeavors to renovate the age, by impressing the minds of men with the importance of educating their little boys and girls, of inculcating in the minds of youth the fear and love of the Deity . . . and, in subordination to these great principles, the love of their country. . . . In short, of leading them in the study and practice of the exalted virtues of the Christian system.

1790 Letter to John Adams,
who wrote back: "You and I agree."
Four Letters: Being an Interesting Correspondence Between Those
Eminently Distinguished Characters, John Adams, Late President of the United States;
and Samuel Adams, Late Governor of Massachusetts. On the Important Subject of Government

(Boston: Adams and Rhoades, 1802) pp. 9-10

This is exactly what Samuel Adams Coaching will do for you. You can partially compensate for what the federal government denied you as a little boy or girl by enrolling in the year-long Samuel Adams Coaching program.
